Sofia Levchenko

Growing up in Uzbekistan, Sofia advocates for classical music in her homeland and abroad by performing solo and ensemble repertoire and in orchestra settings on international stages, including such renowned concert halls as Carnegie Hall, Suntory Hall, and Detroit Symphony Hall. She made her public solo debut at fourteen at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan. Since then, she has appeared as a soloist with all the major orchestras in the country.

She has also performed at Pacific Music Festival in Japan, Ensemble Academy Freiburg, and Wintergreen Summer Music Festival, where Sofia worked with such famous musicians as Valery Gergiev, Marin Alsop, Christoph Eschenbach, and Leonidas Kavakos, to name a few.

Sofia is currently the Concertmaster of the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra and a Teaching Assistant at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. After completing her master’s degree and Performance Diploma at MSU, she began her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Stony Brook University under the tutelage of Prof. Hagai Shaham, Arnaud Sussman, Jennifer Frautschi, and The Emerson Quartet.
