Keep instrument dry and clean and
away from heat or sudden changes in
temperature or humidity.
Do not use polish on the wood
other than that made specifically
for string instruments.
Don’t touch the bow hairs
with your fingers.
For cellos and string basses, if
your case has a zipper, have the two
zipper pulls meet at the place where
the end pin sticks out of the case.
That way, the end pin doesn’t
rip the case by poking through the
material.
Keep instrument in case when
not in use. Do not store other items
in case that may press on
instrument.
If you have a problem with
the instrument or case, bring it in
right away-don’t try to fix it
yourself. Keep your instrument clean
and be careful with it.
A main cause of string breakage is
when the string is tuned too high
(tight) so have your teacher or us
tune it for you.
