Under Spinning
Lights is a band that really
needs no introduction. If you're
even somewhat familiar with the
Long Island music scene, you've
heard of them.
Their
catchy power pop approach is
nothing new, but they know how
to make things interesting.
These guys know
how to do things right. It's not
often that you'll find a group
that has achieved the level of
local stardom that Under
Spinning Lights has. What do you
say to a band that has been
steadily releasing songs for the
last year, has a full tour
booked, and has over 20,000 myspace friends? You tell them
to keep it up, and that's
exactly what they're doing.
Their latest release "It's
Saturday Night!" is a follow up
to their inaugural EP which took
the Long Island music scene by
storm. It contains more of the
lyrics that will get stuck in
your head for days on end, and
anthems you'll be screaming back
at them at a show. Now, after
playing around Long Island for
the past few months, they'll be
heading out on their first tour.
They have booked shows at
multiple Hot Topic stores on the
east coast, as well as one very
high profile show in
Pennsylvania with Motion City
Soundtrack. After that, they'll
be heading up to Chicago to play
"Stick It To The Man Fest."
Under Spinning Lights is a
band who has, in their short
existence, endured a challenging
line up change, recorded 2 EPs,
and become popular enough to get
swarmed at their local mall by
groups of screaming fans.
Clearly, they must be doing
something right.
Their
first two EPs are available on
iTunes, and they are definitely
worth a listen. If you get a
chance, head over to one of
their shows. They'll be playing
a few dates in New York and New
Jersey in January. Best to catch
them now, because I'll bet
they'll be signed and playing
the likes of Warped Tour and
Bamboozle sooner than later.
